The National
Edible Oils Distributors Association (NEODA) exists to establish and to promote
the highest standards of food safety, quality and service for the benefit of its members,
their customers, and the general consumer, and to offer information on all questions
relating to the production and distribution of edible oils. NEODA members account for over
80% of the UK distributor market. |
NEODA customers are involved in the catering trade, for example restaurants and
hotels, schools, factory and hospital canteens, fast food outlets and fish and chip shops.
NEODA members also supply supermarkets, grocery stores and cash and carries, as well as
family bakers, plant bakers and food manufacturers.

The Association's central principle is adherence to the "Guarantee of
Confidence" Scheme, which requires that all packs of edible oil sold and distributed
by members conform to all necessary requirements concerning product contents, labelling
and pack sizes. Packs which do so conform are allowed to carry the Association's logo.
(Pictured to the right).
The Association carries out a programme of
monitoring and analysing packs of edible oils (whether from members or non-members) to
ensure that customers and consumers are not being misled as to the nature or quantity of
oils being sold. Misleading or illegal packs are followed up, often by co-operation with
Trading Standards Authorities, and, on occasions, resulting in the prosecution and
conviction of offenders.

The Association has agreed Codes of Practice for the following activities:
Members of NEODA are audited for compliance
with all rules and Codes of Practice of the Association.

Associate membership of NEODA is available to customers who feel they would benefit from
having a closer liaison with the trade and being part of an Association interested in
raising standards. For further details, enquiries should be addressed to:
