The issues surrounding Genetically Modified Ingredients and their use in Food products continues to be debated because of the uncertainty and unpredictability of such ingredients.

Under the Food labelling regulations March 1999, Trading Standards Officers have the power to ensure that all food establishments are declaring modified ingredients.

However, given the complexity and fragmentation of supply chains used by a company such as JW Fidler & Sons Limited, it is becoming increasingly difficult to give absolute assurances concerning the use of GM Food or derivatives of GM crops at some point in any given supply chain. As a part of our ongoing policy it is important that our customers are assured that this continuous and complex process will be followed stringently.

In regard to labelling requirements we shall as necessary, adopt a policy of disclosing in full any GM Food ingredients or derivatives of GM corps that might apply to the food items that we supply for public consumption.
